cohort 2 gathering

it's been awhile that we didn't gather together as a cohort. so, there's a day that everybody just drop by, having some meals and chat with each other like forever. i feel that's a good idea to have this gathering since we're far from malaysia. and no adults who can actually watch over us. hihi. biasalah, when it comes to food, everyone was overjoyed. typical malaysian culture. ;D

main menu for that day, if i was not mistaken was mi kari. and nasi impit with kuah kacang.
as you can see, there's also o lot of other dishes made by cohortmates.
kuih cek mek (camni ke eja?). kuih ketayap, cucur, cookies, agar2 etc.
see, we people have developed our cooking skills
haha ;p

food gathering is a must. i bet bila balik mesia nanti jamuan makan tak berenti
kikikiki

birthday dinner

it's our birthday this month. that we couldn't afford more having lavish dinner at town, we decided to set up our own at home. it's actually shikin's idea to have private candle light dinner for birthday. hihi. *no candle though. hers was 2108 and mine 2308. so we chose the day that's between ours, 2208!

menu :
chicken chop (+ salad, coleslaw, corn, rice)
mashed potato
fries, samosa, nuggets
custard and peach pudding
ultimate cheesecake made by rumate! ^^

stretch your horizon. get that feeling.

0100 di bumi Allah. wellington, new zealand.

it's time for burning midnight oil. y'know it's hard to hit the keyboard to do academic writing that i prefer writing a piece of crap like this. teehehe. what a feeling tonight *forget you music's in the air*. having a continuous tiring student life sometimes make me don't even realise that it's actually a month, approximately, that i'm away from home.woahhh.

cut the crap. let's see how i'm running my life lately.

uni. free edited mag. flyers. live band. campaigns. lots of events happening around. *free stuff i loike. hehehe. & that i took a free copy of salient mag (vic's own), only to realise that what the author was saying was definitely true.having a student life means that you want to eat healthily; and cheap at the same time. it's not the end of month yet, but i'm feeling really broke (well minus the monthly saving plan). the thing is, what makes me broke more is the food purchasing. not to mention the choc bars i used to eat between the lecture's gap. sigh. it's difficult in the sense that you (as a muslim) to buy cheap products; with halal ingredients. it's you who have to decide whether you want it cheap or you want to eat as ibadat. you choose.but yeah you have to confront this dilemma when buying groceries. bila calculate all the stuffs, dah terlebih budget. u tell me siapa xtension kan?? still, we have to admit that it's just a test. a motivation; vice versa that i should cut the amount of food i'm eating right now.;p but then i don't care what the heck they gonna say about my food. it's not that lavish and we're not that rich to buy seafood every weekend. note that. ok now why i wrote this stuff? because i'm hungry.still. in the middle of night. my work can't just progress without food. T___T that's why i prefer to sleep early than starving at this moment. (ALIN's assignment restricted me to do so).

get that starving feeling. get to feel your stomach grumbling.
get your snickers bars.

autumn addiction

insert the 2dollar coin
choose
press the button
go get your chocolate
i contribute 2dollar to vending machine almost everyday
I.JUST.CAN'T.RESIST.KITKAT.CHUNKY.BAR.
vending machine it the best invention for choc lovers like me.
BUT
it's also a destructive machine that persuades me to buy some more when i'm broke.
guess that i should put myself on the weight scale
just to give a teaser to my brain that i should stop eating junk food
& not being fat.

not botox

as i am excited & had looked forward to meet my roomates and friends this weekend, i think of something that is suitable to be given to my roomate for my visit. as we both love to eat, food is the first thing that popped out from my mind. i had this dish called botok-botok (not botox) yesterday & perhaps i could manage to bring some to kl. botok-botok is a johorean dish made up of seer fish (tenggiri) marinated in curry paste & steamed together with many types of leaves. the aromatic scent of the dish might somehow being mistaken with otak-otak for people who never eaten it before. oh btw it's our favourite to have it as our meal. you can never find it; or shall i say it's hard to be found at other place than johor itself. *sounds soo like documentary.haha*

credits to google

botok-botok is best served with hot plain rice. i bet you will savour the taste! as the dish is made up of many herbs & leaves like ginger, tapioca leaves, pucuk janggus, daun kaduk & so on, it is considered as a healthy food. plus the method of cooking is steam instead of fry or something else. so, why don't you give a try?
:))

too bad that botok-botok is only available at night market at my neighborhood area. guess that i have to think of other thing to bring. shikin maslan & faziela abdullah; can't wait to see you guys tomorrow!

once a food lover, always a food lover. ;p

there's no place like home

i have this food craving when i'm away from home.
and it's even worse since it's fasting month.
but but when i managed to reach jb last friday, i had this oh-my-home feeling.haha.lame.ignore it.
after having the neck and leg cramp (due to long duration in the bus. -.-), i spent the first few hours sleeping.
&& evening at the bazar. *i like this part*
and bought dishes that i couldn't find way back in kedah.

bubur lambuk. yah yah we can get one at other place. but still, i missed the one in jb.

johor's speciality!

oh harap2 tak mengidam laksa johor bila dah balik kedah nanti. or or bile ade open house dan saya tiada di rumah.

dan dan dan dan dan yang ini;

asam pedas dish

*pictures are taken from google*

zommggg how i missed this one. tahu tak dah berape lame nk mkn tp xjumpe. or sbab malas nk pegi jalan2 dkat bazar. or sbab malas nk masak. tsk tsk tsk.

sometimes we can just find food in other places. but then, how it is cooked and the combination doesn't work on my taste bud. or maybe somehow i am just too lazy to wander around the bazar to buy it. but still, it's different. like the murtabak, in kedah, it is loaded with eggs and veggies. but none in jb which is full with thick layers of beef, i reckon. or when the asam pedas in kedah, it is cooked in steamed style while in jb it's, just, different. or when i figured out that in kedah bubur lambuk is kind of kuih. but in jb it's just another rice porridge. i just couldn't agree more. and i just miss home soo much.

p/s: i'm a food lover. though i don't eat a lot. and i am not being biased or racist or what. i still admire the place where i crack my head and study. and i love home still.
